What is Tuscaloosa International Friends?
Tuscaloosa International Friends (TIF) is a welcoming community organization specifically tailored to enrich the lives of international students studying in Tuscaloosa. As a vibrant hub of cultural exchange, TIF offers a gateway for international students to immerse themselves in the local community and broaden their understanding of Alabama and the United States.
Through our wide array of events, ranging from picnics and banquets, to private family dinners, students have the opportunity to forge meaningful connections with Local Friends and fellow peers, fostering friendships that transcend borders. At TIF, we strive to create a supportive environment where students feel valued, embraced, and empowered to thrive academically and personally during their time in Tuscaloosa.

A Local Friend is a person or family in the Tuscaloosa area who will assist you in learning about American culture and life in Tuscaloosa. Partnering with a Local Friend is also a chance for you to share your culture and customs with Americans in Tuscaloosa.
We currently have a waiting list for Local Friends and hope to have more available soon. We match on a first come, first serve basis, so it's best to get your name on the list as soon as possible. You are still invited and encouraged to attend all of the TIF events while you are waiting to be matched with a family.
